So as you can tell, by the lack of posting, I've been a *leetle* busy these days. It's amazing how much more busy I am with 3 kids as opposed to 2. Jakob is an incredibly easy baby (I don't know how we were so blessed with such great kids), but the logistics of getting out the door with three in tow can get...well...interesting. Just to go anywhere it seems like I need to pack a U-Haul and hitch it to the back of my Jetta (yes, we're still Jetta-ing it!).
So what have we been up to? Not too much. The day-to-day isn't too interesting. It mostly consists of feeding, cleaning up, changing diapers, then repeating the cycle. Well, there is a bit of fun thrown in there for good measure!
Today, for instance, has been interesting. Let's just say that I won't be getting any "Mother of the Year" awards, but I sure as heck have earned some stripes!
We started off at the noon mass at St. Mary's Church in Walnut Creek. The kids behaved really well so I rewarded them with a treat at the Starbuck's in Target. We pull into the parking lot at Target and I went to get Michael out of his seat and into the stroller. Let me preface what I am about to say with the fact that for the past few days Michael has been battling a tummy bug...first it came out his mouth, now it has reversed directions. I open the door of my car and between Michael's legs is, well, I'm going to leave that to your imagination, but let's just say that it wasn't so much solid as liquid and I quickly realize that this was the day that I had forgotten to pack a second change of bottoms for Michael. I get Michael out of the seat and quickly do damage control and change his diaper in the trunk. I think my guardian angel must have been looking out for me because as I was changing him, a couple with a baby walked by and was able to give me a few baby wipes (I had some, just not enough for this monumental task). Once Michael was reasonably cleaned up, I got him into the stroller (sans bottoms), Jakob into the stroller and Sarah out of the car and we trooped into Target, as I had to buy a birthday present for my nephew and, now, stock up on Wet Wipes and hand sanitizer.
After Target, I did an errand then headed home where, upon arrival, Michael was blissfully asleep. I get him into bed then brought Sarah, Jakob, and the dirty laundry inside. I prepped dinner in the crock pot and Sarah said that she needed to use the bathroom. She is potty trained so I let her go do her thing. She was in there a while so I decided to check on her. I was greeted with Sarah on the step stool, in her Cinderella dress (now wet), surrounded what seemed to be a lake of pee. I almost lost it and shouted something not fit for this blog, but I think the Blessed Mother must have clamped my mouth shut so I didn't have to go to confession this week! I went about cleaning up and started to laugh...thank God for a sense of humor! I made sure that Sarah had a little lesson on going to the potty before Niagra Falls of pee between her legs, and afterwards had a little Mommy/daughter bonding time making some Amish Friendship Bread.
Now pass the wine.
Oh mommy hood is so great! I love blogs! I don't get to see you that often but your blog lets me keep in touch and know what's going on in your life.
ReplyDeleteThe husbands have NO IDEA what we go through! I'm with ya, sister!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but smile the whole way through this. We all have days like these, no? It's great to look back and laugh, though at the time things seem so crazy! It sounds like you're taking it in stride! I'm enjoying parenthood, too, with two very strong-willed little boys. I'm interested to see if #3 takes after Mommy and Daddy that way, too!
ReplyDeleteI love how laid back you are. You really are a inspiration to us all!
